like think about it. apply logic to the situation. lets say you are very vocal with your far-left, liberal opinions. and one day, someone from the far right comes up to you and punches you in the face, or kills one of your friends, for having those opinions. do you honestly think thatd make you think “well damn, maybe my views are shitty and i should do a complete 180 on my ideology,” or is it just going to strengthen your beliefs and cement your hatred for the far right? it works the same both ways.
